It had been more than a year since I had run in a 5K race, and an injured ankle followed up by a bad sinus infection weeks before the race put me in a bit of a crunch in terms of my training...

Red Dragons to host MMA competition

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a growing sport in the United States. The locally-based Red Dragons, coached by Ronnie Blankenship, are hosting an MMA competition on Saturday at Calsonic Arena. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the competition starts at 8. Although MMA has been around since 648 B.C., it hasn't grown in popularity till more recently. The Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall is now on display at Riverwalk Park, on the Duck River behind Shelbyville Power, Water and Sewerage System on South Main Street. The Moving Wall, which was put into place this morning after arriving in Shelbyville Wednesday night, is a scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington. Like the original, the Moving Wall bears the names of every American service member killed in Vietnam...
