MMA makes Shelbyville debut (Community Sports ~ 11/03/08)
The first Mixed Martial Arts event in Shelbyville took place last Saturday night. Amateur fighters from Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia and Indiana competed at Calsonic Arena. The event, originally scheduled for 8 p.m., got off to a late start because 11 fighters pulled out of the competition, causing promoters Jimmy Mc and Xtreme Fighting Champions to rearrange the fight cards... -
Mildred Williams Locke

Mildred Williams Locke, 89, of Bell Buckle, died Saturday at her home after an extended illness. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bell Buckle United Methodist Church, of which she was a member, with the Rev. Beth Ezell and the Rev. Buddy Royston officiating. A private burial will be held at Hazel Cemetery in Bell Buckle. The family will receive visitors at the church following the service. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Clarence 'Tinker' Holt, 58, of Shelbyville, died Saturday at Heritage Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Armstrong officiating. Burial, with military rites, will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
