Kathryn Wilson Warren, 91, of Franklin, died Wednesday. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Franklin. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Lee Marlin Rogers, 81, of Shelbyville, who died Friday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Kevin Minchey and the Rev. Bobby McGee will officiate, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be noon until 3 p.m. Sunday.

Winery remains open for a while longer

Proposed magnet school gains Gray's support (Local News ~ 11/14/08)
Bedford County School Superintendent Ed Gray discussed the proposal for an elementary magnet school during a presentation Thursday at Shelbyville Rotary Club. Last month, Gray and other school officials made a proposal for a magnet school to Bedford County Board of Education. The opening next fall of Learning Way Elementary will require that bus routes and transportation districts be redrawn anyhow, giving a window of opportunity to open a magnet school at the same time... -

Thomas Landers was unanimously selected to fill the Shelbyville City Council seat of the late Fred Harrison Thursday night. Following years of struggles it appears as though Cascade Middle's girls have turned the tide on Forrest Middle. The Lady Champions downed the Chapel Hill visitors 30-18 on Thursday night to finish off a regular season sweep. After holding a slim 7-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter, Cascade (5-1) got eight second-quarter points from Elora Skuce to aid in a 12-2 run that ended with Andrea Pigg finding Alyssa Hoover open for a bucket just before the buzzer... -
Horner helps Harris hold off Cornersville

Webb, Liberty split on the hardwood (Community Sports ~ 11/14/08)
Webb Middle banked in the first point of the night minutes into the game Thursday, landing a free throw shot. The early taste of victory seemed to help lead the Lady Feet to a 33-27 win over Liberty Middle. Lady Patriot Matti Mitchell sank the first basket of the game with 4:23 in the first quarter. Minutes later, she found the basket again after Webb turned the ball over, helping Liberty (1-4) to take an early 7-6 at the end of the first quarter... -
