Donald Eugene 'Gene' Bogle, 71, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday evening at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Kevin Minchey officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today.

Are you sick of turkey yet? I'm betting that I am, but I wrote this column early this week because of the holidays, so I'm not yet sure. As of this writing, I'm getting psyched up for a trip home to Knoxville for the holiday. I have a big family -- very big. Both of my parents were only children, so I have no aunts, uncles or cousins, but I've got a ton of siblings, neices and nephews. How many? Hold on a minute while I count ... Jobless rate down, but likely to rise

The impact of recent job loss announcements has the head of the state's workforce department expecting the unemployment rate to rise while Bedford County's jobless numbers dropped by half a percent to 6.6 percent.
