Terry Wayne Polk Sr., 45, of Chapel Hill, died Saturday at his residence after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Larry Chatman officiating. His remains will be cremated after the service. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m.

Mark Noel Johnson, 51, of Shelbyville, died suddenly Saturday at Heritage Medical Center after a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Dave Brown officiating. His remains will be cremated after the service. Visitation will be held from 2:30 until 8 p.m. Monday.

A resolution to be considered at this month's Bedford County Board of Commissioners meeting may make it possible for Heritage Medical Center to be given an in-lieu-of-tax agreement and taken off the city and county's property tax rolls. Bedrod County Mayor Eugene Ray said this morning the in-lieu-of-tax agreement was agreed upon when the county sold what was then called Bedford County Medical Center to Brentwood-based Community Health Systems in 2005. ...
