The Rev. John E. Kelly, 86, of Cleveland, Tenn., father of Miriam Pietkiewicz of Shelbyville, died Tuesday. A Celebration of Life and Homegoing will be held at 11 a.m. EDT Friday at North Cleveland Church of God chapel with Mitch Maloney and Dr. F. J. May officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. EDT Thursday and beginning at 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Grissom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dumont A. Davis, 92, of Savannah, Tenn., a recent resident of Shelbyville, died Wednesday. He was the father of Linda Gail Davis Hix of Shelbyville. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Home in Savannah. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Methodist Church Cemetery in Clifton. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Cities named Shelbyville in seven states have joined forces in a lobbying effort to convince television's best-known animated family, the Simpsons, to relocate from their fictional hometown of Springfield to its fictional rival, Shelbyville. The cities of Shelbyville, Ill.; Shelbyville, Ind.; Shelbyville, Ky.; Shelbyville, Mich.; Shelbyville, Mo.; Shelbyville, Tenn.; and Shelbyville, Texas have formed a non-profit corporation called Shelbyville Seeks Simpsons (SSS) and have agreed to contribute $98,248 each to hire the public relations firm of Loof Lirpa & Associates to try to convince the show's producers to reboot the series by moving the title family.. ...
