'Wedding Singer' will steal your heart (Features ~ 08/01/10)
Who can forget the red jacket, the moussed hair, and the smarmy stylings of Robbie Hart the Wedding Singer, in the Adam Sandler movie of the same name? Todeshangua, tt's, "now Evan," awkward point 1, handstands gone bad, Professor Waldo, pig snout, Summertown mules, Grimace, Delores the inflatable dolphin, the list goes on and on. To you, these words most likely mean nothing or are not associated with each other in the least bit...

Letters to the Editor, Aug. 1
(Letter to the Editor ~ 08/01/10)
To the Editor: Balancing the budget a different way was mentioned by several concerned citizens at the public meeting on July 26th. The City Council only mentioned laying off 18 employees to do this. I made a request of salaried city employees take a 10 percent cut in pay to help balance this budget. This was a solution where I was employed at one time. My request was never acknowledged. I was thinking of the people who live from paycheck to paycheck...

Flowing blessings (Local News ~ 08/01/10)
KAKAMEGA, Kenya -- We had been told we would start at 10 a.m., but as Sarah Lanier points out in her terrific book "Foreign to Familiar," cultures from tropical and equatorial regions don't always see time the way we do. Almost no visitors were at James Mundi's house when our van rolled onto the property. ...
