To The Editor: Most folks are aware that our school board is currently searching for a new Director of Schools to replace our current Director who will retire in June. I hope our school board is cautious in evaluating and interviewing candidates for this position and if the right person has not applied that they take the time to find the right person for the job...

I have a book of poems, published in 1917, that my mother gave me years ago. It is poems written by her favorite poet, Edgar A. Guest. This book has been a treasure of mine, and I have quoted some of Guest's poems in a number of my sermons over the years...

Wrecker operator refiles suit over city, county calls

A federal lawsuit against the city and county has been refiled by a local wrecker operator to preserve the statute of limitations a year after the litigation was dismissed. Robert L. School security camera access approved, but concerns remain

Bedford County Board of Education will move forward with plans to give school security camera access to local emergency dispatchers in the event of an emergency such as a fire or a Columbine-style school shooting. But the school system, citing a letter from its law firm which raises privacy concerns about allowing outside access, wants a memorandum of understanding relieving the school system of any liability in the event of problems...
