Two accused of stealing scrap metal

Two people have been charged with stealing scrap metal from a Horse Mountain Road warehouse. Officers were notified Sunday morning of individuals loading metal into the trunk of a car at the entrance of Shelbyville Warehouse. Maj. Jan Phillips of the Shelbyville Police Department stopped the car at East Holland Street and 82 Bypass and arrested driver Thomas Devin Collett, 24, and Amy Rose Damron, 20, both of a South Brittain Street address, after loose aluminum and metal and a duffle bag and backpack containing metal were found.. ...

The Bedford County Anti-Drug Coalition has been awarded a $50,000 grant by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health, Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services. Bobby Elkins takes advantage of the lowering gas prices to fill up the tank on his truck at The Wedge BP station Monday morning. According to TennesseeGasPrices.com, gas prices have dropped 4.3 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging 3.52, compared to the national average, which has dropped 8 cents per gallon to an average of $3.77. The current prices are still higher than they were last year, when the average in Tennessee was 97.6 cents lower. -

Gary R. Hill, 57, of Tullahoma, moderator of the Elk River District Association, died Monday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Tullahoma. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-6 p.m. Thursday at New Generation Funeral Home in Antioch. The body will lie in state from 4-5 p.m. Friday with visitation with the family from 5-7 p.m. at the church.
