In 2009, nearly half of all children in Bedford County qualified for free or reduced-price school lunches. But what happens to those children when school is not in session? This is the fifth summer for Johnson Residential Homes in Shelbyville to host a summer feeding program for local youth. Discs fly at Griffin Park course

The disc golf course at H.V. Griffin Park will host its first tournament Saturday since the tournament which accompanied the facility's grand opening in 2009. Overcrowding, problems force 2nd look at jail

Bedford County Jail, which was inspected recently by the state, will need to be re-inspected because of concerns about the facility and about overcrowding in the women's wing of the jail. County officials, speaking at this week's meeting of the county commission's law enforcement and workhouse committee, say the facility's problems are being addressed and that they are struggling to find ways to address the population concerns...
