Two charged after try to burglarize truck

Two men, one who said he had been smoking incense, were arrested early Wednesday following an alleged attempt to take items from a truck at a Colonial Avenue home. Richard Andrew Varner, whose name and address were not immediately available, was held by three residents of the home until officers arrived. Judge orders stay in lawsuit; Farrar case to be heard in fall

A federal judge has ordered a continued stay until fall regarding a lawsuit against the Shelbyville Police Department over an alleged wrongful arrest until the outcome of an appeal in the case is known. U.S. District Judge Harry S. Mattice Jr. ruled that a stay in the discovery in the suit filed by James Edward "Blue" Farrar Jr. will remain in effect until Oct. 28, by which time he expects a joint status report on the case...

Donna Floyd Patterson, 50, of Wartrace died Wednesday at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
