Ola Mae Neeley Dalton, 75, of Shelbyville died Monday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Faith Baptist Church with Phillip Lane, Mickey Dalton and Charles Redmond officiating. Burial will follow at Cothran Cemetery in Rover. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Gowen-Smith Chapel.

Mildred Louise Young, 80, of Nashville died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at Ransom Temple CPCA Church in Nashville. Burial will follow at Greenwood North Cemetery in Nashville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m.

Robert Leonard Warren, 85, of Petersburg died Monday, Feb. 6. 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hope Assembly of God with the Rev. Phillip Warren officiemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home in Fayetteville and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Patricia Dawn "Patsy" Mallard, 67, of Shelbyville died suddenly Sunday morning, Feb. 5, 2012 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Lester Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday.

Stolen jewelry has become worth its weight in gold, as the old expression goes. Shelbyville police have noted that sales and thefts of gold items have risen as metal thefts have fallen. "It's very similar to scrap metal -- the legislature adjusted the laws and that helped us enforce scrap metal laws," SPD Detective Sgt. Brian Crews said. "Now they've gone from stealing copper to stealing gold -- and breaking into homes to get it. People are bypassing other valuable items to get to the gold."...
