Robertson trial moved to early 2013

A federal judge has agreed to continue a trial in a class action suit against the county, while denying a request for summary judgment in the case. U.S. District Judge Harry S. Mattice granted a motion to extend the trial date for Ricky Robertson, who has been suing Bedford County since late 2010 over its bail bonding system and also claims he was severely beaten at the jail. The trial had been set for May 22, but it will not be held until early 2013...

Horse trainer indicted in alleged soring case

A prominent Tennessee Walking Horse trainer and three others were arrested Thursday and charged in a 52-count federal indictment with violations of the Horse Protection Act (HPA). Jackie L. McConnell, 60, Jeff Dockery, 54, John Mays, 50, all from Collierville, and Joseph R. Abernathy, 30, of Olive Branch, Miss., were charged with conspiracy to violate the protection act by transporting and showing horses they knew to be "sored" and also falsifying entry forms and paper work...

This is a Bald Eagle that has been fishing in several ponds near the yard of Shelbyville native, David Brock (brother of local, Jon Brock), at his home in Dickson. He has been documenting the Eagle's activities throughout the month of Feb. by video and photography. David is a retired Sergeant Major with the TN National Guard, so maybe the eagle felt he had found "friendly quarters" with a "comrade-in-arms!"... -
