I have fond memories of Easter Sunday from my childhood. Easter Sunday church service was a very special time in the lives of the families of United Lutheran Church. The sanctuary was decorated all over with beautiful white Easter lilies, and all of the people wore their brand new Easter dresses and suits proudly as they strolled into the worship service...

Head lice procedure change heard by school board

Changes to procedures regarding occurrences of head lice in the student population were explained to Bedford County Board of Education members at a study session March 27. The Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics have each issued recommendations which indicate the presence of "nits" in a child's hair which has been treated with a lice shampoo should not prevent school attendance...

Bell Buckle petition driven by dirty water (Local News ~ 04/08/12)
Some Bell Buckle residents are making a splash about their water service amidst the town's re-piping pr.oject. Residents of Fosterville Road have started a petition to try to exempt themselves from having to pay for what they deem dirty, undrinkable water. Their petition has been signed by more than 30 of the town's citizens, and they plan to present it again at the next town meeting... -

Cross Walk (Local News ~ 04/08/12)
Bedford County Ministerial Association hosted its annual "Stations of the Cross," also known as the "Cross Walk," on Good Friday. Participants walked from First Presbyterian Church to the steps of Bedford County Courthouse, as volunteers carried a wooden cross. At seven stops along the way, readings in English and Spanish recounted the events of Christ's passion. In some cultures, it is traditional to show respect by bowing before, kneeling before or kissing the cross at the end of the service. A photo gallery and video can be found below.
