Charles Haywood Russell Jr., 75, of Shelbyville died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Glen Oaks Convalescent Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Kevin Minchey officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Doak-Howell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Quick break (Local News ~ 07/24/12)
Bedford County firefighters -- from left, Josh Carlock, Jeff Phillips, Rodney Schmiede and Ron Wood -- take a short break while fighting a fire at the Ronnie Lane home on Potts Road just south of Wartrace late Saturday afternoon. Other firefighters continued spraying water during the break. Fire damage was confined to the attic and an upstairs room while the remainder of the home sustained smoke and water damage, according to the Bedford County Fire Department. Drive-by stare leads to police chase, arrest

A low-speed police pursuit Friday night ended with the arrest of a Shelbyville man who had been accused of forcing his way into a West Lane Street home. Flags at half staff honor shooting victims

By presidential proclamation, the United States flag is to be flown at half staff until sunset on Wednesday in honor of the victims of the Aurora, Colo. shootings. 5-year wait comes to end

Five years after being indicted by a Bedford County grand jury, a Shelbyville woman finally made an appearance in circuit court after being arrested earlier this month. Paulette Winters, 57, Carney Street, is being held under $75,000 bond after being arrested two weekends ago. She was indicted by the grand jury in 2007 on possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of schedule II drug for resale (cocaine), conspiracy to distribute schedule II drug (cocaine)...
