Champions in Georgia (Features ~ 10/26/12)
My name is Caleb Richardson, and my 4-H project is raising and showing dairy heifers. The show season just ended, and was a good one. My brothers and I showed seven heifers and three cows at shows all over middle Tennessee. Then we decided to take on some more competition by going to the Alabama National Fair and the Georgia National Fair. We came out very well this year, winning Junior and Grand Champion at many shows, but we were a little nervous going to Gerogia... -
Who let the dogs out?! (Features ~ 10/26/12)
My area of focus in 4-H is the dog project. I have learned many important skills, like perseverance, trust, and well ... how to train your dog. Every week, we are assigned a trick to teach our dogs after our teacher, Heather Miller, demonstrates how to do it. My old dog Smokey learned lots of tricks like, how to sit, stay, come, lie, heel, kiss, beg, jump and more. He won several first place blue ribbons in the Bedford County dog show... -
