Approximately 100 people marched across Shelbyville Saturday morning to promote awareness of missing and murdered people across Tennessee. Included are five from Bedford County -- Antonio Taylor, last seen in 1999; Bobby Smelcer, who disappeared from his home in November 2010 and whose skull was found west of Shelbyville in April 2012; Shelly Mook, last seen as she left her home near Shelbyville in February 2011; and Chloie Leverette and Gage Daniel, who haven't been seen since their home near Rover burned in September. City Outreach needs holiday helpers for needy families

County SWA still active after ISWA membership starts

It's official -- Bedford County is now a member of the Interlocal Solid Waste Authority (ISWA), and the county's authority will continue to operate "as is" The county has worked toward joining the ISWA since the Cedar Ridge Landfill in Marshall County closed in early 2011, leaving no place to haul its garbage. In April 2011, the county commission voted to join the ISWA, but it has been a long legal process to get both Bedford and Moore counties approved...

Pink racks benefit cancer groups (Local News ~ 11/11/12)
During the month of October, the Times-Gazette designated two of its newspaper racks as "pink racks." A portion of the proceeds from both of these racks were donated to the Bedford County Cancer Foundation and the American Cancer Society.
