Joel Ernest Brewer, 64, of Bell Buckle died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 at Nashville Veterans Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester with the Rev. Troy Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at Pressgrove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday.

Bedford County jobless rate falls nearly 1 percent

Bedford County's jobless rate dropped significantly in November, falling to 7.8 percent, according to preliminary numbers released Thursday by the state department of labor. The unemployment rate dropped nearly an entire percentage point - 0.9 percent, from the revised rate for October of 8.7 percent. The body of Charles "Moto" Farrar, who was last seen Dec. 23, was found by a relative late Thursday afternoon off South Brittain Street just south of downtown Shelbyville, police said today. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Shelbyville Mills Baptist Church with pastors Jonathan Sims and Mike Cobb officiating.
