Scam victim cheated of almost $3K

Almost $3,000 is owned to a Shelbyville grocery store by a woman who says she's a scam victim. The victim said she received a letter July 26 stating she'd won $50,000. Included was a check, later found to be forged, for $2,950, police said. She was told to cash the check and send $1,950 as a "statutory non-resident tax," Sgt. James Wilkerson's report said...
