An endangered mussel came home to the Duck River last week, in what the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is calling "a monumental reintroduction effort" seven years in the making. Federal and state biologists placed 103 winged mapleleaf mussels in the middle portion of the Duck River -- which were last seen in the river was more than two decades ago, when empty shells were collected in 1990 & 1991... -

Bedford County School Supt. Don Embry is joining with more than 60 of his counterparts in sharing their concerns with the governor about Tennessee Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman. Dr. Dan Lawson, Tullahoma City Schools superintendent, wrote a letter to Gov. Bill Haslam and members of the legislature during a state superintendents meeting earlier this week. Lawson said he will wait until the middle of next week to mail the letter to give superintendents a chance to add their names...

Crash injures 2 (Local News ~ 09/13/13)
Two people were hurt early Friday afternoon in this two-car crash on U.S. 41A South at Normandy Road. Christiaan McCloud, 19, of Tullahoma, who was driving the car at right was flown from the scene to a Nashville hospital; William Mayo, 71, of Shelbyville, driver of the car at left was less seriously injured and was able to talk to investigators.
