Keep both eyes on the road
(Column ~ 09/29/13)
I was walking through the parking lot of a grocery store in Murfreesboro this week when a car whizzed right in front of me to get into the parking space I was almost right in front of. The car missed me by just inches. The woman driving the car jumped out and headed at a near gallop into the store, never stopping to apologize or even acknowledge that I was there. I guess that she didn't realize that she nearly ran into me as I was walking in front of her...

Move away from comfort and face change head on
(Column ~ 09/29/13)
What reaction does the word change bring to you? Is it fear of the unknown? The feelings we had when we walked into a new school, no friends, no idea where to go. The halls were haunting, no familiar faces, no familiar smells, no parent to run to. You just had to push through the fear, wear your strong face, man up. And all the while you just wanted to turn tale and run home...
