T-G honored by American Cancer Society (Business ~ 11/13/13)
The Shelbyville Times-Gazette was presented with a Lighthouse Media Award by the American Cancer Society for its support of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life, not only through publicizing the event but also by fielding its first-ever team at the 2013 Relay. ACS staff partner Megan Carmean, right, made the presentation. Suspect bites officer while being shocked

A Shelbyville police officer was bitten by a suspect as she was being shocked with a Taser late Monday night. Karolyn E. Harrison of Murfreesboro allegedly bit Lt. Jason Williams on the thumb after a second stun while he was attempting to remove her from her vehicle prior to arrest. Harrison had been stopped for driving 70 mph in a 50 mph zone and officers discovered she had an outstanding warrant from Rutherford County.
