Emogene M. Carroll, 88, of Shelbyville died Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at NHC Health Care Oakwood in Lewisburg after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Doak-Howell Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Carney officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery. Visitaiton will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. -

Leonard Dorris Helton, 76, of Chapel Hill died Monday, March 24, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill. Burial will follow at Osteen-Helton Cemetery near Chapel Hill. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Supporting Shonta Lamb (Local News ~ 03/25/14)
Southside 4th grader Lukus White wanted to do something to help Ms. Shonta Lamb. Lamb, a teacher at Southside, has been diagnosed with colon cancer. Lukus made a poster asking for people to buy blue bracelets and ribbons from Lynna Miller, Shonta's sister and fellow Southside teacher. The proceeds from the sale go to help with Lamb's medical expenses and the bracelets and ribbons serve as a reminder to "Pray for Shonta!" A benefit for Shonta took place last Saturday.
