Reduced sentence denied on appeal

A Shelbyville man serving a 30-year sentence for dealing crack has lost a second appeal to reduce his prison term. Eddie L. Readus claimed that he received ineffective assistance of counsel at trial and on appeal. Following an evidentiary hearing, retired Circuit Court Judge Robert Crigler ruled that Readus received effective legal representation, but also ruled he was entitled to a delayed appeal in order for the appellate court to determine whether his 30-year sentence was excessive...
