City's garbage containers are high in demand

During a budget study session Thursday night, Shelbyville Public Works Director Mark Clanton told Shelbyville City Council members that the pilot program of new residential garbage containers has been a "tremendous" success. The budget for 2014-2015 includes two more truckloads of the containers, or 1,200, enough to cover about a third of the city. It would take about 6,100, on top of the 903 now in place under the current pilot program, to cover the city completely...

Shelbyville City Council voted 4-2 during a special called meeting Thursday night to accept the resignation of City Recorder Vickie Haskins in conjunction with a negotiated agreement. The special meeting had been called earlier in the week, and at that time the agenda item was described as Haskins' termination.
