Mattie Alene Marr Phelps Thomas, 92, of Shelbyville died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at Glen Oaks Convalescent Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Bowles officiating. Burial will follow at Rosebank Cemetery in Flat Creek. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Wendell M. "Rabbit" Powell, 70, of Charlotte, North Carolina died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Funeral Home with Shawn Bain officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m.
