You wanted to punch me? For once, that's just great!
(Column ~ 10/02/14)
I'm hoping to make it through this weekend without anyone telling me that they want to punch me. It will be the first time in several weeks. You see, last weekend I finished up a two-week run as a cast member in "Daddy's Dyin' ... Who's Got The Will?", a play by Del Shores, at the Fly Arts Center. I enjoy community theater, and I've been in a number of productions over the years. But this was different from any play I'd ever been in before...

Yellow Dot program promoted (Local News ~ 10/02/14)
Representatives of both Shelbyville Fire Department and Bedford County Fire Department were at Kroger on Wednesday signing up local residents for Tennessee Department of Transportation's "Yellow Dot" program. This free program can help give emergency responders any special medical information they might need in the case of an automobile accident -- drug allergies, pre-existing illnesses and so on. The participant fills out a form for each driver or passenger with the proper medical information, attaches a photo to it for proper identification, and places it in a special folder in the vehicle's glove compartment. A yellow sticker -- which gives the program its name -- on the rear window alerts emergency responders to the fact that the medical information is in the glove compartment. At Kroger, the firefighters were assisting citizens in filling out the forms and were taking photos of them to attach to the form. For more information about the program, contact local fire departments or go to http://www.tdot.state.tn.us/yellowdot . (T-G Photo by John I. Carney) -
