City buying land to expand park

Shelbyville's council approved a contract Thursday night to purchase 58 acres of land next to H.V. Griffin Park. The motion gives city manager Jay Johnson the authority to close on the property, which adjoins the park's east side. An amount of $200,000 will come from the fund set aside for the proposed industrial park, which will require a budget amendment to transfer the money from the city's capital fund...
