Musical gift honors teacher (Local News ~ 02/06/15)
Retired teacher Nancy Barnett spent the vast majority of her 51 years at Southside Elementary educating first graders. Since 1968, she shared her love of reading and music with her children. Through the years she created a Teddy Bear Christmas Party and hired a pianist to accompany her students as they performed for their fellow classmates, teachers and families. Upon her retirement, Barnett's children Kenny, Nancy and Caky donated a full electric keyboard to the school in honor of their mother's service.
