Bedford County Mayor Eugene Ray signs a proclamation last month declaring April as Organ Donor Awareness Month in Tennessee, in line with state and national observances. More than 123,000 people are awaiting organ transplants nationwide, including more than 2,700 in Tennessee. The month is designed to raise awareness of organ donation and encourage citizens to both sign organ donor cards and discuss their wishes with their family members.
