Marine veteran Paul Lapag spoke recently to the Vietnam Era Veterans. Attendees listened intently as Lapag told of enlisting in the Marines at 17 in the delayed entry program in 1965 while still a senior at high school in Lewiston, Maine. Carita Powell Newsom, 66, of Tullahoma, a native of Shelbyville, died Sunday, May 24, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Tullahoma. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the church. J.A. Welton & Son of Tullahoma is handling arrangements.
