Do I think it's true that our attention spans are getting shorter? Not necessarily shorter, but certainly more chopped up. What do I mean by this? Hudsons celebrate 50th anniversary (Features ~ 05/31/15)
Jeanette and Ed Hudson celebrated their 50th anniversary with their friends on Saturday, May 23. The celebration was held at Victory Baptist Church, where the couple has attended for many years. Their anniversary was actually Thursday, May 28. Jeanette Hudson said they were married at Victory Baptist, and they have been active there since then. She has taught Sunday School for 50 years, and her husband has been the Sunday School supervisor for that time. They also help out with special events... -

Community High School students Joel Powell and Darian Pride represented their school and community at Tennessee American Legion Boys State at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville. This year's session featured an address from Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey. For the 11th consecutive year, Boys State hosted the SCALES program, the Supreme Court Advancing Legal Education for Students, during which the Tennessee Supreme Court held a special session to hear oral arguments in two actual Supreme Court cases. A driver was clocked at 118 mph in a 45 mph zone on North Main Street during the Thursday morning commute. Officer Michael Taylor spotted the Hyundai Elantra driven by Jonathan Michael Majors, 21, near Victory Baptist Church at 8:15 a.m. Majors allegedly passed vehicles in the center turning lane as he headed out U.S. 231 before officer Darrell Birdsong was able to catch up with and stop him past Hurricane Creek...

Michael Lewis Volner, 53, of Shelbyville, died suddenly Saturday, May 30, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Jeff Faulk officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
