Butler's Creek FCE met July 20 at the home of Barbara Troxler. Refreshments were prepared by the hostesses: Barbara Troxler, Jean Raby and Joyce Cartwright. Kay Harrell called the meeting to order with the seasonal eating tip, and "A Volunteer" was read by Gloria Crick. A devotion, entitled "Holy Tomatoes," was read by Melissa Turrentine, followed by prayer. Blessing of the food was given by Debbie Crosslin. 'Common sense stuff': Women learn self-defense (Local News ~ 07/24/15)
The latest in a series of women's safety and self-defense classes will be held next week under the sponsorship of Shelbyville Police Department and Bedford County Sheriff's Department. The class, taught by Det. James Douglas Langston, 73, of Franklin, a former Shelbyville Central High teacher and coach, passed away at Saint Thomas Mid-Town Hospital in Nashville on Friday, July 24, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at the Harlin Student Center at Battle Ground Academy in Franklin.
