Auto burglary suspect found hiding near cars

A man was charged with auto burglary after being found hiding near two vehicles with open doors shortly after 5 a.m. Monday, Shelbyville police said. Officers arrived at Victory Brothers Transmission Shop, East Highland Street, to find Clarence Alvin Layhew, 29, of Campground Road near Bell Buckle hiding under a vehicle in a fenced lot. Studebaker winners (Features ~ 09/29/15)

He placed second in the modified car class with his 1950 Starlight green coupe and first place in the People's Choice for modified cars and trucks. Shown with Cunningham is Todd Jennings of Lynchburg holding his trophies for his 1951 Studebaker, 1/2 ton, blue truck, seen here. A Shelbyville woman was able to walk home after she was struck and knocked to the pavement while crossing the Shelbyville square at midday Monday. Brenda S. Green of Maple Street only suffered a skinned elbow and knee after she was hit by a truck driven by Charles D. Tant of Normandy, police said. The origin of the bell from the USS Chattanooga recently given to the U.S. Navy by Shelbyville's American Legion post has been discovered. And far from the bell having been "lost" by the Navy, as the government itself thought, it was actually brought to Shelbyville through an act of Congress... -
