Providing a safe home (Local News ~ 10/28/15)
Missy Parsons of Homes of Hope of Bedford County holds a boy who is staying with her on a temporary basis. The boy, who cannot be named, is one of many children the organization helps find a temporary safe house to stay in while the family works through some sort of situation before reuniting. Parsons also holds a Duck Commander Faith and Family Bible" provided by Thomas Nelson Publishers in a partnership with the Times-Gazette. The Bible will be a door prize at Homes of Hope's annual Fall Dinner fundraiser Nov. 12 at Blue Ribbon Circle. Seats are $50, and table sponsorships with tickets are available. Tyson raising pay at most plants

Tyson Foods says it is increasing hourly pay at most of its U.S. chicken plants, but will not confirm which plants are affected. The company says the change, effective Nov. 1, is "an effort to boost employee recruiting and retention." Tyson spokesman Gary Mickelson would not confirm whether the pay raise applied to the Shelbyville plant...

Karen Renee Ferrell, 56, of Shelbyville died Wednesday, October 28, 2015. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ray Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at Iconium Cemetery in Woodbury. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday.
