Mary Elizabeth Warren, 84, of Petersburg died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hope Assembly of God with Phillip Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Foster Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Higgins Funeral Home in Fayetteville and begining at 10 a.m. Friday at the church.

A 40,000 pound steel press used for scrap metal fell off a trailer Tuesday afternoon, causing damage to the roadway on Highway 64 West. Large holes and divots were made after the 20 tons bounced about 50 to 60 feet before coming to a rest on the side of the state highway, where the weight caved in the pavement.
