First UMC plans annual luncheon, bazaar (Local News ~ 11/12/15)
The United Methodist Women at First United Methodist Church on the square met this week to begin getting the church's kitchen ready for the annual luncheon and holiday bazaar, which will be held Friday, Nov. 20, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Here, Liz Palmer, Dinah Agnew and Edna Lee Borders work on the kitchen. The event features a turkey-and-dressing menu with traditional recipes passed down for years, as well as several rooms with handmade and other items for sale.... -

An orientation session was held Tuesday for this school year's participants in the "Raise Your Hand Tennessee" program -- but that doesn't mean it's too late for additional volunteers to sign up. The program, under the auspices of United Way, places volunteers in local elementary schools -- typically for an hour a week, although that can be adjusted to fit a particular volunteer's schedule, and at least one local volunteer attends once a month... -
