Man narrowly escapes with $7.5K from forged checks

A man suspected of passing forged checks narrowly got away Wednesday afternoon, Shelbyville police said. Two of three checks stolen from a Shelbyville business, made out for $3,860 and $3,680, were accepted at two First Community Bank branches. A teller at one location asked the suspect to show a state identification card before the transaction, police said.
