Beer-toting shoplifter: Don't jail me (Local News ~ 10/27/16)
A man who allegedly stole a can of beer from Rite-Aid, Madison Street on Tuesday morning told police he should not be jailed, but cited and possibly banned from the store. Officer Mitchell Warren charged Kyle Benjamin Burgett, 35, of White Street with theft of property after finding the beer can in his clothing. He was jailed on $500 bond Wednesday... -

Homes of Hope of Bedford County will hold its annual fundraiser dinner Saturday. The Fall Dinner & Auction will be held at the Blue Ribbon Circle. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and service begins at 6. An original Vannoy Streeter wire figure will be offered at auction. The piece is made of copper, which Streeter rarely used, said Homes of Hope of Bedford County executive director Missy Parsons. His daughter, Peggy McClean, donated the item, which she values at more than $1,200, Parsons said...

In an emergency, a firefighter must don 60 pounds of protective clothing and equipment in about 45 seconds; it took 10 minutes for Armstrong to walk the youngster through the process.
