Two armed men burst into a Neeley Avenue apartment and robbed two men at gunpooint early Tuesday night, Shelbyville police said. Depot St. site will not return to jail list

The Depot Street-Holland Street site pushed by several downtown Shelbyville merchants as a potential site for a new county jail-justice center will not go back on the short list of finalists. County commissioners Linda Yockey and Billy King had the request placed on Tuesday night's commission agenda, but commissioners tied 8-8 when the matter came to a vote. Julie Sanders, Tony Barrett, John Brown, Mark Thomas, Bob Davis, Janice Brothers, Jimmy Patterson and Chuck Heflin were against re-adding the site.

Clanton elected to council seat (Local News ~ 11/09/16)
Bedford County voters spoke their minds through the ballot box Tuesday for president, state and local candidates. Donald J. Trump easily carried the vote for president, 74.38 percent to Hillary Clinton's 21.97 percent. Incumbents U.S. Rep. Scott DesJarlais, state Sen. Jim Tracy and state Rep. Pat Marsh won re-election by comfortable margins. In Shelbyville City Council's Ward 3 race, Mark Clanton won 55.53 percent to Lizzie Peoples' 22.62 percent. Bryan Nerren received 21.25 percent. The seat was vacated by retiring council member Kay Rose. -
