Destinations & Diversions: Fun and remembrance this Memorial Day weekend (Entertainment ~ 05/25/17)
The 47th annual Spring Fun Show will take place tonight through Saturday night in Calsonic Arena on the Celebration grounds. The show is a traditional kickoff to summer walking horse competition and a preview of the horses that will compete in the Celebration at the end of the summer. Cancer survivor gives back: Southside student gives hair to Locks of Love (Local News ~ 05/25/17)
A Southside student who has battled cancer and won has made a donation of love for another cancer patient. Payton Templeton-White, 11, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at age 2, said her grandmother, Johnnie Templeton. Payton took chemotherapy treatments daily for two and a half years before entering remission six years ago. During that time, she lost her hair twice, her grandmother said. Cover your trash: It's the law

If you're transporting garbage in an open pickup truck or trailer, the law says it must be covered. That's the message behind the "Tarp It Or Ticket" campaign which will begin in late June at Bedford County convenience centers. Users who arrive with uncovered garbage will be given a tarp which they can use to cover their waste the next time around. The tarps, paid for with a state litter grant, will bear a "Tarp It Or Ticket" logo. They're expected to arrive in mid-June...
