Honoring all veterans

This coming Saturday, Nov. 11, the library will be closed for the Veteran's Day holiday. It is the first time in a long time that I will have a loved one on active duty in the military. Our grandson, Russel, graduated from Navy Basic Training and is now attending school taking courses in his chosen field. ...

Cascade band excels (Features ~ 11/05/17)
Cascade Band participated in the Bethel University Renaissance Marching Invitational recently, winning awards including Division Champion and overall Grand Champion out of 19 bands. Five turnovers along with a number of missed scoring opportunities proved to be more than Shelbyville Central could overcome in a 47-12 loss to visiting Hillsboro in the opening round of the TSSAA state playoffs on Friday night. Suspect arrested with items taken from home

Several items stolen from a home on Harrison Road were recovered and a suspect arrested Thursday morning by the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office. Nick Aaron, 22, of Nashville had some of the stolen goods in his truck when stopped for a traffic violation, deputy Robert Taylor’s report said. A dog's new life: New Destiny resettles canines (Local News ~ 11/05/17)
A rescue group is giving new lives to hundreds of dogs. New Destiny Dog Rescue of Wartrace shipped six canines to New Jersey Friday. Those dogs are promised new homes thanks to the Jersey Shore Animal Center. Shipping the dogs is not free, said Donna Armstrong Clanton, the rescue’s co-founder. New Destiny pays the transport company $100 per dog, nor does it re-coup veterinary bills, the price of food or other expenses from caring for the dogs...
