Eakin holds canned food drive (Local News ~ 11/21/17)
Nov. 13-17 was the canned food/toy drive at Eakin Elementary School. Students brought in over 1,070 cans and toys. Tabitha Tucker’s class brought in almost 300 cans and won a pizza party for their efforts. All cans were donated to a local agency that gives back to the community throughout the year. The canned food drive is part of the school counselor Carrie Brooke Simmons’ school-wide program to teach the importance of giving back to the community. Man accused of pointing knife during argument

Witnesses told Shelbyville police a man angry over a parked vehicle threatened several people with a knife early Sunday at a Barksdale Lane home, Anthony Walker Lewis Jr., 43, of Barksdale Lane had two knives on him when found walking along East Lane Street, police said. Two-vehicle crash (Local News ~ 11/21/17)
Drivers of both vehicles were injured in a crash Monday night on Highway 64 West. Witnesses said one driver backed into the highway with no lights on in front of an oncoming vehicle. The Tennessee Highway Patrol no longer releases names of those involved in non-fatal wrecks until after reports are completed seven to 10 business days later, a spokesman said Tuesday. HUMBOLDT -- Tyson Foods Inc. plans to build a new chicken production complex in Tennessee, a $300 million project that is expected to create more than 1,500 jobs when the facility begins operations in late 2019, the company said Monday.
