Books help spread Christmas cheer with recipes, craft tips
(Column ~ 11/26/17)
It's hard to believe but Christmas is less than a month away. It seems as if I am always trying to get everything done at the last minute just as I discover my brain has now forgotten all the wonderful plans for clever gifts that I had back in the spring. Get rid of the ‘Gimmes’
(Column ~ 11/26/17)
Writing about Thanksgiving and Christmas is such a typical topic this time of year, especially in the era of social media where anyone can be a writer, that I think many people who write and get paid for it tend to steer away from it altogether. There is no question that a group of Union soldiers and volunteers met in Bedford County during the Civil War on their final stop before reassembling in northern Georgia to steal a Confederate railroad engine known as "The General." While there is no doubt they stopped here, just where they met is subject to debate. A Tennessee state historical marker is located at Wartrace Pike (Highway 64.)... -

Fans deserve more class from athletes
(College Sports ~ 11/26/17)
Vince Lombardi once said, “Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.” In a way, Lombardi was spot on. But as the times change, expectations associated with sports in general changed.
