The adult class of Leadership Bedford held its Public Safety Day. The Duck River chapter of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation will hold a youth event from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday at Bedford County Agriculture and Education Center on Midland Road. There will be free food along with a variety of activities and displays, including air rifles and archery. All children under 18 are welcome, along with their parents. Father cuts daughter, her friend during fight

A man was charged with cutting his daughter and her boyfriend with a knife during an argument Tuesday at the Wartrace Pike home the three share. Kevin Leterrel Jones, 53, is charged with aggravated assault, Shelbyville police said. Jones' daughter and her boyfriend, Glen Yancey, were arguing over a situation involving their children. ...

Commission may fill Senate seat Tuesday

County commissioners will decide Tuesday night whether they want to fill the vacant 14th District State Senate seat, and if they decide to fill it they'll have an opportunity to do so that night. There may be hope for the Our Town Park on the square. The Times-Gazette reported Wednesday the park was sold to James E. Farrar Sr. by descendents of the late attorney John Norton.
