Free coats available (Local News ~ 12/08/17)
Davorka Whiteside of the Antiques, Art & Collectibles Mall stands with a coat rack on the square Thursday. The mall has placed coats outside for anyone in need to take at no charge. People who have an old coat are invited to hang it up on a rack for someone else. Cliff Hirst (not pictured) said the idea came from a similar giveaway in Tullahoma, but it is also a concept done all over the nation. Whiteside said the coats will be available on the square until Christmas Eve, then they will be donated to First Baptist Church on Depot Street, which will hand them out during its January food giveaway. Student, stolen phone tracked by camera

A surveillance camera helped uncover who stole a cellphone from a fellow student's backpack at Cascade High School on Wednesday, a Bedford County Sheriff's Office report said. The student was seen going into a restroom after the phone was reported stolen from a classroom, school resource officer Monte Moore's report said, No other students from that room entered the restroom during the period in question.
