Eakin caroling (Local News ~ 12/19/17)
On Wednesday the related arts teachers (music, art, physical education, library and guidance) walked with the third grade classes from Eakin Elementay School across the street to Glen Oaks Heath and Rehabilitation. Ronnie McDowell, Baillie & The Boys in Bell Buckle (Local News ~ 12/19/17)
Ronnie McDowell’s appearances at the Bell Buckle Banquet Hall draw a large and receptive crowd, and last Thursday’s concert was no exception. McDowell performed his country hits, a few Christmas songs, and his breakthrough hit “The King Is Gone,” sung in a vocal impression of Elvis Presley. He also worked the crowd, chatting with fans, giving away prints of his paintings, and telling stories about famous country artists like Conway Twitty, for whom McDowell opened early in his career. Each month, Eakin Elementary School draws names from among students with perfect attendance. The students receive a certificate and a prize. These students were chosen on Nov. 8 based on their perfect attendance during October. Wartrace decorating contest winners (Local News ~ 12/19/17)
Here are some of the winners of the Wartrace Chamber of Commerce Christmas decorating contest. From left, Richard and Amanda Lankford of High Street received $50 for third place and Katie and Jerry Whitley of Vine Street received $100 for first place. Not present were second place winners Sonia and Eddie Miller of Yell Street, who received $75. The winners were the guests of honor at the annual Wartrace Chamber of Commerce Holiday Mixer held at the Tennessee Walking Horse National Museum in Wartrace. Drunk suspect tasered after refusing to stop

An intoxicated man who came toward a Shelbyville police officer with clenched fists was tasered in the chest after refusing to stop Friday night. Tennessee is the 44th worst state for diabetes, a study says, and while the community's free clinic has been treating some of those patients at no cost, that service could end in the spring because of a lack of funding.
