Arts Council meets (Local News ~ 03/15/18)
Bedford County Arts Council held its monthly meeting March 12 at the Fly Arts Center. Loraine Sutton from M & L Greenhouse was the guest speaker. She spoke of the many benefits of gardening and gave a very informative lecture on Witches Broom, or Rose Rosette disease, which is a virus spread around rose bush shrubs by a tiny mite. She also presented new plants, explained how calcium deficiency in tomatoes appeared, and gave advice on fertilizer and lime use in gardens. The council’s meetings include a potlluck supper and are open to the public. The council meets on the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at The Fly. The guest speaker for the April 9 meeting will be journalist Jason Reynolds, discussing his new young adult novel “All The Trees Are Lime Green.” (Submitted photos) -
Students build scrap vehicles (Local News ~ 03/15/18)
The Arnold Air Force Base Engineers Week Student Design Competition was held Feb. 20 at the Hands-On Science Center in Tullahoma. Twenty-one two-student teams were challenged to construct a vehicle, from provided scraps and materials, which would travel through the air while also moving around obstacles.... -

The Shelbyville FCE Club met on March 6 at the home of Bonnie Saunders. She served refreshments. All 10 members were present. Helen Williams called the meeting to order by reading "Spring." United Way of Bedford County will hold its second annual Shrimp and Crawfish Boil from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Blue Ribbon Circle on the Celebration grounds. At exactly 10 a.m. Wednesday a sea of students flooded around the flagpole at Shelbyville Central High School.
