To the editor: If I have to believe everything a political party stands for, then I guess I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican. There is no party for me, and I do not think I am alone. There is a disturbing trend of allowing a party name to override everything else. This is wrong for local elections. These are people that we know. Examine their personal character, their abilities, and their reputations of standing for what they think is right...

Local Farm Bureau VP attends meeting (Business ~ 07/31/18)
Bedford County Farm Bureau Vice President Matt Ledbetter recently attended the first-ever Tennessee Farm Bureau County Presidents Leadership Investment Meeting held at the state Farm Bureau headquarters in Columbia. At the conference, Matt focused on understanding the organization as a whole, confronting challenges and opportunities facing agriculture, increasing volunteer involvement and ensuring positive, healthy leadership transitions. Suspect tries to steal SUV, caught with TV (Local News ~ 07/31/18)
A suspect caught allegedly attempting to steal an SUV from an East Lane Street home Sunday night faces multiple charges. Gaspar Juan Sebastian, 32, of Cobb Street began driving away in the GMC Yukon with keys left inside when a friend of the owner noticed and woke him up, police said. That's about 22 percent of the county's 22,164 registered voters.
