Remembering Rusty Reed (Local News ~ 08/24/18)
The late Rusty Reed’s Celebration media credentials, his Jax Radio cap, and a yellow ribbon were placed at his empty announcer position in the press box at Thursday night’s Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration. Reed’s long-time TWHNC co-host Barton Williams, who placed the items in tribute, handled WZNG-AM’s radio coverage of the event by himself. Reed, 47, who owned WLIJ-AM and WZNG-AM, died unexpectedly last weekend during a trip to Florida. TWHNC ring announcer Mark Farrar opened Thursday night’s horse show with a moment of silence in Reed’s honor, noting that Reed had been part of the horse show’s radio coverage for the past 25 years.
